Terroir
The Mas Jourda vineyards are located in the Conflent, nestled between the villages of Joch, Finestret, Rigarda, Vinça and Rodès in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
Grape varieties : The vinified grape varieties are mainly local varieties that were already planted.
Red grape varieties (red or rosé wines, grape juice) : Carignan noir, Grenache noir, Syrah.
White grape varieties (white wine) : Carignan blanc and gris, Grenache blanc and gris, Macabeu.
Climate : Our vines benefit from an extremely favorable climate – glorious sunshine with a little wind (mostly Tramontana).
Harvesting : All of our graoes are harvested by hand. We do not buy in grapes from other sources. The grapes are regularly checked and tasted in order to determine the optimum harvesting time for each variety. From the middle of September, the grapes are harvested for producing the grape juice. Approximately 3 weeks later, the Grenache, Syrah and Carignan are alternately harvested to be vinified.
Wine making: Great care is taken during the fermentation stage as this is the most important stage in the production of fine wines. We then allow our wines to age naturally without unnecessary interference.
